Company History

The 5th Scarborough Company has just entered its 10th year as an active Boys’ Brigade Company. The company began life as the 2nd Scarborough Company – Wesley Platoon at Wesley Methodist Church in Scarborough. The company has gone from strength to strength in its decade of existence, growing into one of the largest companies in The Yorkshire County Battalion with over 60 members.

The company opened its doors starting with The Anchor Boys and over its first year expanded quickly with The Junior Section opening in late 1999 and a Company Section in 2001.

After our original home closed down, the company moved to Queen Street Methodist Central Hall and became The 5th Scarborough Company.

The company now has a very strong Senior section with  Queen’s Men and Many NCOs.

The Company has recently completed its second full year as The 5th Scarborough Company with Mike Colbeck taking over as company Captain from Chris Bairstow, our previous Captain for a term of 8 Years.
